Everyone has those one or two things we would like
to magically change if we could. It’s a reason why cosmetic surgeries and
treatments of varying degrees of severity have become so popular in the last
decade. It seems many of us are becoming more and more hung up on what we would
like to change about ourselves. Below are the most popular changes we would
like to make. Which ones do you have?
Breasts
For women, and even their male other half, breast-enhancement is what most think of many one says cosmetic surgery (you cheeky men). However, this is usually the one area which many tabloid newspapers and gossip websites like to focus on because of it’s risque nature. In the UK last year, almost 10, 000 enhancements were performed, making it the most popular surgery.
Skin
Sunbeds and tan-in-a-bottle products have shot up in recent years thanks to the WAG culture having gripped the country two World Cups ago. Thank you Colleen and Cheryl! Things only got worse with Jersey Shore (and now Geordie Shore) popping up in the last few years as well, and any restraint with the fake tan was well and truly lost. As well as colour and tone, acne scarring and other blemishes are also a popular nuisance as many suffer from those during puberty.
Love Handles
Notoriously the hardest bit of fat to lose, these saddlebags can make the difference between a nice slender figure and the bumps of a burgeoning muffin top; a term that has itself become part of the lexicon of our culture in the last decade. While there are many exercises focused on getting rid of these less than flattering leftovers from a diet regime, sometimes it can just be down to genetics or luck. Many who stay trim by walking a lot find that while they have slim legs, their waist and midsection can be a problem area if they still eat things high in fat.
Lips
You would have thought that botched jobs like Meg Ryan’s would have put anyone off but apparently not. Rumours of some stars having the fat from their thighs or bottom injected into their lips have caused some to see lipjobs as the most silly or unnecessary of touch-ups (usually because of the amount of makeup products which can create a similar effect). However, they remain popular despite being one of the cosmetic surgeries most likely to be considered a “botch” as they are often hit-or-miss.
Teeth
Perhaps it is our fascination with America and their pearly white grins which are an institution over there, unlike here. The English have had to put up with derogatory remarks from our cousins across the pond for years concerning our shoddy teeth, along with our incomprehensible cockney accents and needing their help in WW2. Treatments like veneers, teeth-whitening or braces for adults to correct things which were not as a child or have developed over time, have increased. It’s a hallmark of one of our own when they make it big in America, that they make a trip to the nearest dentist; and it’s probably our infatuation with DVD box sets from the States that has only heightened this desire for a perfect smile.
